Thank you Barry for helping make my documentary, Silver Wings, Flying Dreams: The Complete Story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots such a success. As a filmmaker and television writer/producer, I’ve worked with a lot of professional photographers in all sorts of production situations, and I can honestly say that working with Barry Kirsch has proven to one of the best decisions I’ve made.

When I needed a still photographer who would not only fully document the film production process, but also have the sensitivity and creative eye to capture those rare intimate moments that I knew would happen during the interviewing of these aging American heroes, I chose Barry Kirsch, owner of Flat Camera Films.

Barry traveled with our film crew across America taking photos of production shoots, talent, rare aircraft and events, capturing the making of this little known story as well as some of the final pictures taken of these female American Heroes. His stills were used in the documentary, on the film poster and DVD cover and also featured in one of the special segments on the DVD.

Barry Kirsch’s photographs reveal the passion and emotion of each subject. Barry’s confidence, commitment and passion are evident in all his work. His creative and technical talents give him the ability to recognize and freeze the perfect moment in time, skills needed when making a documentary that features rare WWII aircraft, on-camera talent who are in their nineties, and limited filming opportunities.

When you don’t have the luxury of re-takes you have to trust your film and still camera crews to be spot on. Barry Kirsch has earned my total trust and I look forward to working with him on my next project.
